History

The founder Ratanshi J. Raja formed this company in 1946 just before independence from the British Empire. His experience working for a British Company dealing in various kinds of merchandise helped him gain extensive experience in the field of trading and his dream of owning his own company was realised by the setting up of Standard Trading Company, the Standard Group’s flagship company.

He was ably assisted by his three sons Jayantilal Raja, Navinchandra Raja and Maheshkumar Raja. The first office was established at Ezra Street, Calcutta and the first branch office was set up at Canning Street, Calcutta. In 1969 one of the sons Navinchandra Raja shifted to Mumbai where an office was established at Palton Road.

Today the Standard Group is actively managed and run by the founder's grandsons Sanjay J. Raja and Vijay M Raja under the leadership of the sole surviving son Mahesh R. Raja. The group now has representative offices and employees in 34 cities across India and partner in production facilities in Silvassa, Daman and Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. It is involved in Manufacturing, Consultancy and Investments.
